Kakor si boš postlala, tako boš spala (Sama pala, sama se ubila)


V performansu Kakor si boš postlala, tako boš spala nas Sandra Dukić s pomočjo znanega ljudskega pregovora (katerega besedilo med performansom izvezuje na kos blaga) uvaja v vseprisotno nasilje. Z razgaljanjem in ozaveščanjem naredi nasilje vidno in poziva k odgovornosti za njegovo ustavitev. Z uporabo avdio zapisa izkušenj ženske, ki je bivala v Varni hiši, postavlja občinstvo v vlogo poslušalke/ca. Nasilje kot zasebni problem ženske in posledica njenih napačnih izbir – v utečeni maniri prelaganja krivde s storilca na žensko, ki prenaša nasilje – je tradicija, ki perpetuira in normalizira vlogi žrtve in storilca. Sandra Dukić, rojena leta 1980 na Reki (Hrvaška). Diplomirala je na Akademiji za umetnost v Banja Luki (Bosna in Hercegovina), kjer živi in dela. Njena dela so bila razstavljena v Center for Book Arts New York in Splatterpool Gallery (New York, ZDA), Nacionalni center sodobne umetnosti (Sankt Petersburg, Rusija), Delaware Centre for Contemporary Art (Wilmington, ZDA), Muzej sodobnih umetnosti (Banja Luka, Bosna in Hercegovina), Muzej sodobnih umetnosti (Novi Sad, Srbija), Muzej mesta Skopja (Makedonija). Sandra Dukić je prejemnica prestižne nagrade Zvono, letne nagrade za mlade vizualne umetnike do 35 let, ki omogoča gostovanje pri International Studio and Curatorial Program v New Yorku.

Durational performance

In the performance You Made Your Bed, Now Lie in It, Sandra Dukić with the help of a popular saying (that she embroiders on a piece of fabric during the performance) introduces us to the omnipresence of violence. By exposing it and raising awareness, she makes violence visible and urges us to take on responsibility to stop it. She uses an audio recorded experience of a woman who lived in a safe house, thereby putting the audience in the role of listener. Violence as a private problem of a woman and a consequence of the choices she made – in the widely accepted manner of blaming a woman who is the victim of violence instead of the perpetrator – is a tradition which perpetuates and normalises the roles of victim and perpetrator.
