Professional training: Cultural-Artistic Education for Gender Equality

The program includes an introductory lecture by Darja Štirn, an expert in cultural and artistic education, on how art can engage children and young people to turn to the world. This is followed by a guided tour of the exhibition "Art at Work" with Adela Železnik, the head of educational and exhibition programs at the Museum of Modern Art (+MSUM), and a series of collaboratively oriented presentations of teaching materials and tools from the City of Women (Tea Hvala, Sara Šabec, Urška Jež, and Maja Hodošček with a group of students). These are intended for all those who wish to address gender inequality and the paths to equality through the creation, experience, and reflection of contemporary art, and thus promote equal opportunities for children and young people during schooling: to encourage their respect for (their own) difference and to strengthen their positive self-image.

We invite professional staff of primary schools (the last three grades) and secondary schools as well as counseling services to attend the training. We also invite all those who are involved in cultural and artistic education in youth centers, non-governmental organizations, and elsewhere.

The training will take place on Thursday, January 26, 2023, from 12 pm to 8 pm at the Museum of Contemporary Art Metelkova (+MSUM) on Maistrova Street 3 in Ljubljana.

The professional training is included in the Catalogue of Programs of Further Education and Training of Professional Staff in Education (KATIS) and is valued at 0.5 points for promotion in rank.

The number of participants is limited. Applications are accepted until January 24, 2023, through the KATIS system or the registration form.

Important! If you want to claim 0.5 points for promotion in rank, you must register for the conference through the KATIS system, not through this form. In KATIS, log in with your username and password, select the school year 2022/23, and the organizer City of Women.

After submitting the application, you will receive practical instructions and a pro forma invoice with City of Women's bank details for payment of the registration fee to your e-mail address. The fee for those who registered through KATIS is €21.68, and for those who registered through the City of Women form, it is €40.00. The fee in both cases includes a warm meal and a guided tour of the exhibition. The deadline for payment of the registration fee is January 24, 2023. The deadline for cancellation of the training is January 25, 2023. Cancellations and all questions regarding the conference are accepted at the e-mail address: tea.hvala@cityofwomen.org.
